Born on July 16, 1990, Natalie Arnoldi is a recent graduate of Stanford University with a Master of Science degree in Earth Systems specializing in ocean science and policy and a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology.
As a southern California native, Arnoldi's life has always centered around the ocean, which has been her inspiration for both academic and artistic pursuits.
Arnoldi has found a synergy in painting and science: two endeavors that might appear counterintuitive. Instead, each has given her a unique and enriched perspective into the other. As a scientist, Arnoldi tries to make sense of things in the natural world we do not understand. As an artist, she visualizes the inexplicable. Arnoldi says, "Both processes, science and art, are a form of exploration, at once (both) highly emotinal and analytical, but always inquisitive. The mthods might be different, but the goal is the same, seeking truth in the most authentic way I know how."
The images in Arnoldi's paintings form a visual alphabet of her life. Like a dream that fades into wakefulness, her paintings stand on the precipice of consciousness. They walk the fine line between the abstract and figurative, willing the psychological effects of ambiguous representation.
